Entering a Split Personality — Chapter 13

Qin Su, come out, I promise not to beat you to death!

Slight adjustments...what the hell had he adjusted it to?!

Why would I return to this point in time?!

If he hadn’t remembered it wrong, this should be the night of the day that he and Ayr first met. They were in the bath, and he'd arrived just before they did that.

God, he wasn’t mentally prepared at all! Suddenly waking up like this, his mind was completely blank, okay?

No, he couldn’t do it like this.

Xiao He’s head was in disarray, but he still had a trace of reason left.

Qin Su said that he should be a little more candid, so he shouldn’t consciously provoke Ayr.

He didn’t really understand the matter of dating, but even if he’d never done it before, he still knew the basic principles. No matter what, doing that with somebody else was absolutely wrong! Not to mention he still had a hidden mine—the little elf Cowen.

Before, he hadn’t known. Now that he knew, he couldn’t ignore it.

In short, no matter what, he had to stop Ayr.

Seeing the strength in Ayr’s hands increasing, Xiao He pushed him hard, looked up at him and said, “Your Majesty, please…”

Before he could finish his sentence, Ayr had already taken the chance to lower his head. His long silver hair fell down like flowing water, feeling cool and soft on Xiao He’s neck, refreshing his heart. It contrasted against the blazing heat of his lips.

Xiao He's eyes widened. He tried to resist, but Ayr pinched him somewhere on the waist, and his mouth instantly loosened. He forced his tongue straight in, and when their lips and tongues thoroughly interlocked, his mind, tasting the sweetness, immediately wanted to surrender.

But...he couldn’t!

The moment Xiao He caught a breath, he immediately opened his mouth and said, “Your Majesty, we can’t do this.”

“Why?” Ayr didn’t look up. A meticulous kiss landed on Xiao He’s neck, as if he was tasting the sweetest of cakes.

Xiao He looked down at him, and saw the uptilted corners of his slightly narrowed eyes, and his kiss that was full of erotic significance… He felt like his head was boiling, as if lava was flowing inside of it, overheating him until he couldn’t stand it. But...stay strong, aahhhhh!

His fingers pierced into his palms, and the pain let him regain some clear-headedness. Xiao He’s voice trembled to a degree even he found hard to imagine. “I have a lover, Your Majesty, I have a lover!”

These words were like an alert switch. After he pressed it, everything stilled.

The kiss stopped, the passion retreated, and the pool water, that was always at a suitable temperature, took on a slight chill.

Ayr stood up and looked down at him.

Xiao He looked up, his heart beating fast. He felt like he’d done something stupid, done something enormously stupid. He should’ve been gentler, should’ve been a bit more tactful, should’ve… In any case, he shouldn’t have said it so bluntly in this kind of situation!

Even if it was for the sake of stopping what was about to happen between them, he shouldn’t have said it like this.

Xiao He was so nervous his fingers trembled. He looked up at Ayr. The silver-haired elf before his eyes was very quiet. Droplets of water condensed on his long, gorgeous hair, but it was still as beautiful as petals in the early morning. The passion in his eyes had not yet receded, and the depth and light of their color was beautiful enough to make his heart palpitate…

Xiao He looked at him without blinking. At this moment, Ayr didn’t make a sound or declare his position, but Xiao He suddenly thought of the scene he’d seen before dying.

Scarlet, bloodthirsty, dark and terrifying.

And that despairing feeling of suffocation.

The more beautiful he was, the more frightening, because he would take away your defenses, so you were unable to resist, and would even find yourself willing.

Xiao He suddenly realized that what he feared might not be death, but...sinking into insensibility.

This brief moment was as long as several years. Xiao He thought he would die, and die more tragically than last time.

But...he guessed wrong again.

Just as he couldn’t predict his death, he didn’t guess that he’d survive this time.

Ayr’s eyes softened, as if a spring breeze had brushed by, and the ice on the lake had melted. The soft sunlight glittered on the waves, moving his heart until it couldn’t resist warming. “You have a lover? Have I missed my chance?”

Xiao He was completely dazed.

Ayr let go of his waist, but stayed close to his ear. He sighed with a low and unhurried voice, “Can’t you forget about him?”

Xiao He hadn’t expected that he’d react like this at all. The huge drop in expectations made his heart start pounding again. He’d thought he was dead for sure, but Ayr didn’t kill him, and instead...instead…

“Can you try to like me?” The silver-haired elf met his gaze, his eyes almost overflowing with deep love and longing. “I like you. From the first time I saw you, I've wanted to have you. Give me a chance, okay?”

His gentle words of love were like the most intoxicating fine liquor in the world. They drifted into his ears and pounded heavily on his heart. Xiao He opened his mouth, and under Ayr’s longing gaze, his voice broke away from his thoughts, and he looked like he was about to compromise.

But suddenly...two scarlet, beating hearts appeared in his mind. Xiao He’s face paled, and he abruptly awoke from the sweet fragrance he was lost in. “S-sorry.”

Ayr’s eyes darkened slightly, but he wasn’t disappointed because of this. He only left a light, courteous kiss on Xiao He’s forehead...and a promise. “No matter how long it takes, I’ll wait for you.”

And then he rose and left the bath.

Xiao He’s body emptied of all its strength, and he almost went limp in the pool water.

He’d thought he’d done something stupid, but it seemed he’d accidentally done it right?

Saying he had a lover out loud didn’t anger Ayr, but had a certain degree of frankness instead?

Xiao He left the bath and returned to his room. He’d lived here for a month, so he was familiar with the place. Even walking while thinking, he wasn’t hindered at all.

He climbed into bed, wrapped himself in the soft blanket, and went over the matter slowly in his mind. He felt faintly relieved.

It looked like Ayr wasn’t as perverse as he had imagined. He had probably erupted so suddenly last time because he felt Xiao He had kept him in the dark, deceived him and then betrayed him…

Xiao He took a deep breath. If he was a bit more honest this time, and didn’t cover things up, it shouldn’t be game over again, right?

Xiao He gave a bitter laugh inside. But as a matter of fact, he hadn’t wanted to conceal anything last time, either. He simply hadn't known that he and Cowen were having an affair, okay?!

It wasn’t any use thinking about this. In any case, he had experience this time. As long as he planned it out well, he could avoid dying.

Wait...he wouldn’t die, but he hadn’t the slightest idea how to cure Ayr!

After all, the elven king that he saw now really didn’t show the smallest sign of mental illness!

After thinking about it back and forth, Xiao He fell asleep in a daze.

And then he had a rose-colored dream.

In the dream, it seemed like he’d returned to that month. Ayr gazed at him, kissed him, caressed him, and in the warm, slippery water, he easily drowned him in pleasure.

Early the next morning, Xiao He woke with a start. He felt all sticky down below, and panic rushed through his heart.

What was he thinking, why would he have a dream like that, he...he…

At the next moment, he thought of Qin Su’s words. “You’ve never met anyone you liked, so how do you know you’re not gay?”

Xiao He went crazy. Fuck! I’m actually gay??????!!!

The days that came afterward made Xiao He’s little heart wildly beat nonstop.

Ayr didn’t do anything to him that crossed the line, but he treated him several times better than last time. He kept him company starting from early in the morning, finding amusement for him in different ways. He listened to him talk without getting bored, chatted with him, and gave him all the most beautiful things in the world.

Ayr wanted to spoil him to high heavens. It seemed like as long as Xiao He opened his mouth, there was nothing he wouldn’t promise him.

Except for one thing—leaving Ayr’s palace.

Xiao He spent his time very comfortably, but he still kept his reason, and he knew he had a mission to complete.

He wanted to see Cowen, but he couldn’t leave the palace, so he naturally couldn’t see him.

Could it be he had to wait for Cowen to find him?

Wait, inspiration suddenly flashed through Xiao He’s mind, how had Cowen entered the palace last time?

This was the elven king’s residence, so it was sure to have layer upon layer of defenses. How did a little elf like Cowen get in?

Back then, too many unexpected events had happened too fast, so Xiao He hadn’t had any time for misgivings. But now that he thought about it, this was really too fishy.

Based on Cowen’s own words, he couldn’t find him no matter what, right?

But he had found him, and he just happened to let Ayr see it.

Xiao He seized upon a clue, but just at that moment, the door opened.

Ayr? Xiao He looked over, and when he saw the one who came, his eyes suddenly narrowed.

Under the curtain of night and the silver moon, the visitor’s golden hair was no less dazzling than the day. He strode in, bringing the cold wind from outside with him.

Xiao He quickly rose from his bed, and looked unblinkingly at him. “Lord...Lance.”

Lance stared at him, his eyes remote as the deep sea, bottomless in the black night. “Having a good time?”

Xiao He didn’t make a sound.

Lance moved closer, the corner of his mouth rising, full of sarcasm and derision. “When you’re lying beneath him and giving him pleasure, have you ever given a thought to what he’s done behind your back?”

Xiao He’s heart suddenly chilled.

“Cowen’s dead, and he isn’t resting in peace.”
