Entering a Split Personality — Chapter 21

Xiao He was the one who had made the appointment with Lance, but in the end, Lance was the one who chose the place, and Xiao He followed him there.

Xiao He had stayed in this palace for several months, but he wasn’t as familiar with it as Lance.

Especially since Xiao He almost never left the living quarters.

Lance was able to arrange all of this, so he definitely had his own connections. It was an easy matter for the two of them to exchange some brief words.

They had both left their places, but there was a great distance between them, so no one noticed.

But this didn’t include Ayr.

Ayr was having a conversation with an elven elder at the moment when a young elf came by, and whispered a few words to him.

Ayr’s expression remained unchanged, but at that moment, a layer of ice seemed to cover his azure eyes, so that one couldn’t see through them.

“You’re dismissed.”

The young elf bowed and left, and not long after, Ayr rose and left as well.

He waved his hand, and thin rays of silver light surrounded him, hiding his figure from the crowd.

He walked around in the palace as before, but no one knew, and no one could see him.

Finding Lance was simple. He was the one who had bestowed Lance with his golden hair, using the radiance of the bright morning sun, and incorporating the luster of the purest gold. They came together to form the most beautiful light in Yanar.

Lance was once his favorite child. He was smart and a skilled fighter, with sky-high talent and a resourceful nature.

He appreciated him and doted on him. He gave him great power and lofty status.

But now...he wanted to betray him.

Oh, it was them.

The child he most doted on, and the man he most loved.

Ayr smiled lightly, his eyes a remote blue, like the sea on a winter night. The color was deep and cold, but it also carried a tinge of desolation that would shatter at the lightest touch.

He followed Lance, and saw the young elf standing in a corner from afar.

The little elf wore the gorgeous robes he had dressed him in. The most beautiful jewel in his collection hung from his forehead, and he had personally put on the fine blue fluorite in his left ear as well.

When he had put it on, he had pressed several kisses on that pointed ear because he found it too alluring.

Back then, the elven boy in his arms trembled gently, lovable and captivating, making his heart pound with affection.

But at this moment, everything was smeared with the shade of night.

His favorite black hair had become what mocked him the most.

Xiao He could only see Lance.

“I have a few worries.” Xiao He's voice carried a slight tremble.

Lance’s eyes were gentle. His gaze landed on Xiao He’s forehead. “Don’t be afraid, he likes you a lot. He was even willing to give you this jewel.”

Xiao He’s eyes were slightly dull, but he soon changed his expression. “But he’s so powerful, can I really do it?”

“It’s very simple.” Lance naturally took him into his arms. “He’ll bathe you in the sacred light, at that time…” The corner of his mouth rose mockingly. “He’ll definitely take a good taste of you. You just need to take advantage of when he’s absorbed and pierce him with this mistfeather, and that’ll be enough.”

Xiao He suppressed the way his body stiffened, frowned and said, “He’ll die like that?”

“He will. This feather can definitely kill him.” Lance smiled lightly. He’d worked for several hundred years to obtain this one mistfeather. No matter what, he’d succeed.

Xiao He’s forehead wrinkled slightly and he said in a low voice, “This mistfeather...will it hurt me?”

“Relax.” Lance was in a good mood. “It can’t hurt you.”

Xiao He was a little worried again. “Could it be that this feather will only hurt his Majesty?”

Lance smiled lightly and said, “There’s an ancient, forbidden curse on this feather. Only when you’re pierced by the one you truly love will it cause great harm.”

When he heard this, Xiao He’s heart thudded. His and Qin Su’s plan was to pierce Lance with this feather, but how could he be sure that Lance liked him? If he didn’t, then what effect would it have?

For a moment, Xiao He panicked, but he soon forced himself to calm down again. He reached out, trembling, and embraced the blond elf. “Lord Lance, after I take revenge, will...will you...take me in?”

Xiao He had softened for once. Lance’s whole body abruptly froze, and warmth flowed up from the bottom of his heart, running through him in an instant. That feeling was impossible to describe. It made him want to shelter him in his arms, and give him all the beautiful things in the world.

Xiao He saw him not making a sound, and could only open his mouth and sound him out again. “My lord...do you like me?”

Lance’s heart pounded, and he said uncontrollably, “I like you!”

Xiao He stiffened slightly. He closed his eyes and asked again, “Why?”

Lance wrapped his arms around him, his voice so soft it seemed like it could drip out honey. “I can’t explain it, but from the first time I saw you, I fell in love with you.”

Xiao He suddenly thought of what Qin Su had said—You’re the only outsider in this world, so you’ll make them irresistibly interested.

It's true, so that's why Lance likes him.

Xiao He felt a little bitter at heart, but he didn’t hesitate at all.

Having witnessed all of this himself, there was no light left in Ayr’s eyes.

The only thought in his head at this moment was that he had humiliated himself.

He’d long since known this, but he just wouldn’t believe it until he’d seen it with his own eyes, and heard it with his own ears.

He ridiculed commoners for being ignorant, but in the end, the most stupid one was actually himself.

The corners of Ayr’s mouth rose into a smile that could be called perfect, but there wasn’t a hint of a smile in his eyes.

He finally didn’t need to hold out hope anymore.

At last, there was no more need to desire.

Dreams had never existed in this world from the beginning.

He raised a hand, silver rays hovering at his fingertips, and just when he was about to shoot them out, something suddenly changed.

A dazzling burst of golden light suddenly came from the two embracing men, so piercing it was like the bright sun falling from the sky.

In almost the blink of an eye, that silvery-white feather pierced deep into Lance’s chest. He looked disbelievingly at the black-haired elf in front of him.

“Why?” Fresh blood followed the golden light in filling the air, instantly dying their narrow corner red. That beautiful little elf was covered with blood.

Xiao He looked at him unblinkingly, and didn’t say a word.

“Why?!” Lance stared at him unwaveringly, his eyes stained red with blood, his handsome face as deathly pale as paper, frantic and terrifying.

Xiao He suddenly took a few steps back, but Lance quickly hauled him over, and his fingers pierced him accurately.

Ayr had clearly seen what was happening at last. The silver rays above his hand suddenly shot out, aimed at Lance’s arm.

Everything happened lightning fast.

The silver rays were ruthless, instantly tearing the blond elf’s arm to pieces, but Lance was too close to Xiao He, and he acted too fast, so...he still saw what he wanted to see.

A delicate heart, blood-red and beating gently, so lovable, and so merciless.

On the verge of death, the golden-haired elf laughed madly. “You’re in love with him, you’re in love with him…”

He tore open his own chest, ripped his heart out without the slightest hesitation, and held it in front of Xiao He. His voice was as gorgeous as ever, but his scarlet eyes were full of madness and animosity. “Look, I love you, so you can kill me, but you…” Lance didn’t finish his last sentence before he turned into a ray of golden light.

In Xiao He’s last look at him, he only saw his beautiful eyes, dripping with blood.

But soon, he couldn’t reflect on it anymore. A violent stab of pain and a feeling of suffocation came from his chest, and his consciousness started to fade.

He felt someone holding him, and he thought he saw Ayr.

But he couldn’t tell if it was only an illusion.

Until he heard his voice.

“Xiao He...Xiao He…”

That was Ayr’s voice, but he had never heard it low and hoarse like this before, full of desperation and helplessness.

Xiao He opened his eyes. He didn’t know why he could still hold on.

But he saw him.

Ayr was holding his heart, powerless and at a loss.

He didn’t have a heart, but Xiao He felt a heart-piercing pain.

He had to treat him, he couldn’t let him lose hope like this.

He held on in spite of the pain, and said one last sentence: “Ayr, I like you, no… I love you, Ayr, I love you, Ayr…Ayr…”

At last, boundless darkness covered him, and he lost consciousness completely.
