Entering a Split Personality — Chapter 92

Xiao He had thought that he would hide this in his heart for the rest of his life, and no one would bring it up to him.

But now that Xiao Rong had asked him about it, Xiao He suddenly wanted to tell her.

What would happen if he said it? Would anyone believe this preposterous matter?

No one would believe it at all!

Since no one would believe it, what was he afraid of?

Saying it out was better than bearing it alone. Even if no one believed it and it was only a joke, he wouldn’t need to suppress in his heart anymore, constantly stifled.

Even if he only relaxed for a moment, he wanted to take a breather.

“You definitely won’t believe me if I say it. I actually went to be a doctor for a year and a half, treating someone who didn’t want to wake up…”

As Xiao He spoke on bit by bit, Xiao Rong’s expression grew increasingly unsightly.

How could she not understand?! How could she still not figure it out?!

She simply couldn’t be any clearer about her own boss’s illness!

That device for connecting the nervous system was even what she’d fucking developed!

Damnit, shit!

She’d even been chatting with a teammate a while ago, mentioning that she didn’t know which unlucky kid became the experimental subject, constantly going in to treat the boss.

Now how did she feel...knowing this unlucky kid was actually her own elder brother!

What was going on?!

Xiao Rong’s mind buzzed. At the next moment, she woke up.

“Two years ago, I remember you came over to my place to stay for a few days?”

Xiao He, dispirited: “That’s right.”

The corner of Xiao Rong’s mouth twitched, and she almost couldn’t suppress the anger in her chest anymore. “And then you used my laptop?”

“I used it…” It was only because he’d touched that lousy laptop, that lousy thing, that he’d met Fan Shen and suffered all of this, living a life beside which death paled in comparison.

Once Xiao Rong heard his answer, she completely understood.

That set of questions had still been undergoing their third round of inspection, and she’d been monitoring it. Afterwards, she didn’t know why, but it suddenly said it had found a candidate, and they could begin the plan.

At the time, Xiao Rong hadn’t suspected it was him, and even felt her luck was good.

Now she felt...good my ass!

Xiao Rong was so angry her lungs were about to burst. Once she thought of how she’d been working like a dog for the last year and a half, she instantly realized the truth.

Alright, alright, they’d done it on purpose. They were afraid she’d know her own brother was the healer. That’s why they gave her work nonstop, so she couldn’t get away, meet Xiao He and stop him.

With all her calculations, she’d never thought that gang had played their tricks on her!

Now that she looked at Xiao He’s lifeless, pitiful manner, and thought of all the hardships he’d suffered, Xiao Rong’s heart, which never moved, twisted into a lump.

She was going to kill that gang of bastards!

They actually dared to trick her and bully Xiao He like that!

Xiao Rong suddenly stood up, while Xiao He was still at a loss.

“What’s wrong, why are you so angry?”

Xiao Rong’s eyes didn’t show a trace of tipsiness. She just stared at her disappointing brother and asked, with a measured pause after every word, “Were you abandoned?”

Xiao He looked blank for a few moments, but he soon creased his brows and said dully, “No...I just can’t be with him.”

Facing each other would mean eternal separation. As soon as he thought of it, his heart hurt as if someone were stabbing it with a knife.

With that manner of his, Xiao Rong didn’t believe what he said at all.

Her fury was undeniable, and she hated herself as well for her carelessness in involving Xiao He in this.

Xiao Rong couldn’t stay a moment longer. She brought Xiao He home, handed him over to their parents and then rushed out the door, taking her bag.

She went straight to her destination, the base. Xiao Rong came back just after she'd gone out. Her teammates greeted her with a smile.

But Xiao Rong just wanted to beat this group of irksome fellows to the ground. However...these people probably didn’t know the situation, though there was one man who definitely did!

Xiao Rong opened a wide, silver-white door with a single kick, looked at the guy wearing glasses and met him with a punch. “Qin Su! You’re such a great guy! It must be a lot of fun playing with us siblings until we’re running around in circles, huh!”

Blood leaked from the corner of Qin Su’s mouth, but he didn’t lift a hand to attend to it, only lowering his eyes and saying softly, “You know everything?”

“You almost toyed with my brother to death, so how could I still not know?” As soon as Xiao Rong thought of her brother’s pitiful manner, she felt terribly distressed.

Qin Su looked up and said with creased brows, “Is Xiao He in a very bad state?”

“You don’t say!” Xiao Rong’s voice was loud. “He hasn’t gone out or seen anyone for a whole six months, and he’s skinny as a girl, to the point where you can poke through him with a finger. You tell me, is there anything wrong with him or not? You tell me whether he’s alright or not!”

Qin Su’s frown deepened, and there was a trace of puzzlement in his voice. “But...this is the decision he made. He was the one who gave up the young master, and pleaded with me to erase the young master’s memories.”

When he said this, Xiao Rong was shocked into motionlessness.

“Exactly what is going on?” Xiao Rong said severely, “Say it out for me to hear!”

Qin Su and Xiao Rong were old acquaintances, and there was no need to keep her in the dark. He told her what happened before and after clearly.

“At the time, I told Xiao He that if he and the young master were happy together, then I’d retain the young master’s memories, and let them achieve their wish. But in the end...it was Xiao He who said he wanted to give up, and leave the young master behind…”

Xiao Rong knew Qin Su had no need to lie, but she didn’t understand.

She couldn’t be any clearer about her own brother’s temperament. He’d clearly fallen in love and sunk into the mud, unable to free himself, so how could he bear to give up?

Could it be because of their parents?

That wasn’t likely. Xiao Rong understood her parents. They would never throw their son out of the house just because he was gay.

So then...what exactly was going on?

Xiao Rong frowned and considered it, while Qin Su said a soft sentence. “Lately, the young master hasn’t been doing too well again.”

Xiao Rong abruptly jolted. Fan Shen was too important to them. If something happened to Fan Shen again, there’d be big trouble!

Xiao Rong asked urgently, “What happened? Wasn’t he completely cured?”

Qin Su said, “At the time, I thought he was completely cured as well, but looking at him now, I’m afraid we only cured the symptoms and not the root cause.”

In the middle of their discussion, the door suddenly opened. A man in a fine suit stood outside.

Xiao Rong looked over, but didn’t call out “Mr. Fan” respectfully as she had in the past. She was silent instead, looking as if she were about to erupt.

Fan Shen only had to glance over them to know what they were thinking.

He couldn’t remember Xiao He anymore. He didn’t have the slightest impression of him.

But he could see Qin Su’s worry and Xiao Rong’s fury.

According to reason, Fan Shen knew he shouldn’t go to see Xiao He.

Back then, he’d probably given up because he didn’t want to pry into Xiao He’s heart.

Maybe Xiao He left because he’d reached an agreement with him on this.

But at this moment, the thought that wildly surged into his mind was: Go see him.

Even if you’ll be disappointed and lose him in the end, you should go see him.

That man had paid such a great price for his sake, and had been upset for so long over leaving him.

Whether it was according to feelings or logic, he should go see him.

Even if it was only to thoroughly break it off.

  4. Thanks for the update :) I hope the novel won't have an open ending. I don't think I can bear it when the author decides to have the scene of the two of them becoming lovers and leaving it there, while readers try to guess the aftermath.
