Entering a Split Personality — Chapter 33

When he heard what the man said, Fan Shen’s pupils abruptly shrank.

The man still wanted to say more, but Fan Shen quickly held out a hand and whispered, “Wait a moment, don’t wake him up.”

The man in black didn’t lift his head, his stance completely deferential.

Fan Shen came out of the room and carefully closed the door. His eyes swept over the group of men, and locked onto the man who looked like the leader. “Come to my room.”

He no longer needed to have his guard up in the current situation.

They had dozens of men on their side. If they really wanted to harm him, he wouldn’t be able to fight back.

And Fan Shen knew that if these men had really come here with evil intentions, they wouldn’t put on a performance like this. With their large disparity in strength, they could straightforwardly take him away or even kill him.

But they didn’t, which proved there was a hidden explanation here.

Fan Shen wanted to listen to him. It’d be best if he could obtain the information he wanted, but if he couldn’t, at least he’d delay them.

And these men were already prepared as well. They were the first to start speaking, and they soon explained the whole matter clearly.

Fan Shen listened to them calmly. His back slowly straightened, and his brows furrowed tightly.

“You said that my mother died to save me?”

The man said, “Yes. Back then, the remnants of a defeated faction wanted to seize the position of the head of the family, and they tried to kill you and the madam. At that time, one of the people in charge of protecting you betrayed the head, and sold out the location where the madam was hiding. This led to an internal battle, and the guards all died in the end, due to being heavily outnumbered. The madam gave her life as well, for the sake of saving you…”

Fan Shen’s eyes narrowed, and he was sharp enough to catch the key word. “The head of the family? Was that my father?”

“Yes.” The man continued, “The master fought the enemy faction for three years, and he finally got revenge for the madam, but he couldn’t find a trace of you.”

Fan Shen pursed his mouth, and his fingers curled up slightly, but he didn’t speak.

“It wasn’t until today, when that man appeared in the news, that we saw you and were able to find you.” The man in black half-knelt on the ground and said respectfully, “Please follow us back! The master is seriously ill, and he needs you to take charge of the situation.”

“My father…” Fan Shen’s voice was as light as a feather, “is ill?”

“Yes, the wounds the master suffered in his early years are stabilized now, but it’s hard to cure his old injuries. I’m afraid that…” the man’s voice carried a deep sorrow, “he’ll soon succumb to them.”

Fan Shen was silent for a while, then he said calmly, “I understand.”

The man bowed his head and said, “Young Master, will you come back with us now?”

“You can return first.” Fan Shen said, “I still have something to do here. I’ll contact you once I make the proper arrangements.”

The man in black hesitated for a moment.

Fan Shen smiled lightly and said, “You keep calling me ‘Young Master,’ but it seems like you don’t actually respect me.”

The man trembled slightly and immediately said hastily, “It’s due to my foolishness that I’ve annoyed you, Young Master.”

After he finished speaking, he didn’t stay any longer. He left a way to contact him, and then they all withdrew.

The group of men left as quickly as they came.

Fan Shen knew that they definitely hadn’t really left. They were most likely guarding the surrounding area.

But that was fine, he only needed to make sure of something. It didn’t matter whether there were people there or not.

Just then, the door opened again. The one who came in was a staff member of the hotel.

Fan Shen had pressed the emergency help button before he met the men in black, so the employee had come over in a hurry.

But there was nothing much happening now. Fan Shen smiled slightly and said apologetically, “I’m sorry, I accidentally pressed it just now, but I didn’t know how to cancel it, so I made you come here for nothing.”

When the employee heard this, he felt a little dissatisfied at first, but when he saw this boy’s face, he immediately flung all his discontent to the back of his mind.

This boy was really good-looking...he was really...so good-looking it outstripped his imagination!

The security guard was dazzled by Fan Shen's smile, and he went back in a daze just like that.

The door closed and the room filled with silence, but Fan Shen could hear the sound of his own heart rapidly beating.

What he didn’t even dare to dream about had happened tonight.

He didn’t care about what goal the men in black were trying to accomplish at all.

He didn’t care about being a so-called “young master” either.

There was only one thought filling his mind.

Xiao He wasn’t his father! He wasn’t his biological father!

There was no blood relation between them.

The dilemma that had tormented him for almost ten years unexpectedly had a miraculous turnaround tonight.

No matter how steady and cool-headed, Fan Shen was only an eighteen-year-old boy in the end.

He had suppressed it for a long time, but at this moment, he could no longer stifle the pounding of his heart.

This might be too wonderful to be real. He didn’t even really dare to believe it.

Fan Shen squeezed his hands into fists and returned to Xiao He’s bedroom.

The bedroom was completely quiet, and his Xiao He was still deeply asleep.

Fan Shen took off his clothes, got into bed and reached out to take him into his arms.

Xiao He didn’t reject him at all. His eyes stayed closed the whole time, but he snuggled against him comfortably and found a cozy place for himself.

Fan Shen’s heart tingled unbearably. He looked down, and no matter what, he couldn’t move his gaze away from those pale, dewy lips.

If Xiao He wasn’t his father, he could kiss him however he wanted.

If he wasn’t his father, he could caress him every night, and make Xiao He show him his most moving, alluring and beautiful side.

If he wasn’t his father, he could take him, and make his heart, his body and his entire being belong to him.

Just with this thought, Fan Shen felt a joy so great it seemed it was about to rush up from his chest and bubble out.

After dreaming in vain for so long, he was finally about to obtain what he desired. It was impossible for anyone to know the way Fan Shen felt at that moment.

But...he hadn’t completely lost his reason.

Those men in black had no need to lie to him, but he never easily trusted people.

He couldn’t take risks, especially with something this important.

Tomorrow, he would take a paternity test.

He had never suspected anything before, but now, he needed proof of that kind.

Proof that he could love Xiao He openly, proof that he could have him without any misgivings, and proof that he should’ve been his from the start!

He didn’t sleep all night. Fan Shen held Xiao He in his arms, waiting quietly until dawn.

Xiao He had a wonderful night’s sleep. He felt refreshed when he woke up, and he was so comfortable he couldn’t stop his mouth from curving.

Fan Shen had just come out of the shower. He saw that Xiao He had woken up, so he smiled and said, “I ran some hot water for you, go take a bath.”

When Xiao He heard this, his eyes lit up, and he swiftly got out of bed. As he took off his pajamas, he smiled and said, “You’re great, Little Fan!”

Fan Shen’s gaze landed on Xiao He's body, and he looked him up and down without the slightest scruple. His eyes gradually darkened, and his voice was a little rough. “Yeah, go ahead.”

Xiao He looked up and happened to see his line of sight, and his heart inexplicably jumped.

For a moment, he almost thought he saw Ayr.

The same smile showing at the corners of his mouth, the same otherworldly features, the same overflowing affection…

Xiao He hurriedly shook his head. What was he thinking?...This was the child he’d raised by himself. How could he think something like this, was he going mad?

Once he took off his clothes and lowered himself into the bathtub, Xiao He was so comfortable he wanted to sigh.

He really missed days like this. He could sleep well, live comfortably, and he didn’t have to think about anything.

Xiao He had a wonderful hot bath and came out of the bathroom relaxed. Then he saw a sumptuous, delicious breakfast laid out for him.

He hurried to sit down. Ayr pushed the sliced bread and the milk he’d gotten to just the right temperature over to him. Xiao He took a drink, and felt his stomach warm up nicely.

This really felt great. Xiao He’s eyes crinkled, and he couldn’t help saying, “Little Fan, sleep with me again tonight, okay?”

People were all greedy. It hadn’t been easy for him to have a good night’s sleep, but he was already thinking of the next one.

Xiao He looked down on himself a bit, but unexpectedly, Fan Shen agreed. “Okay.”

Xiao He blinked, finding it a bit unbelievable.

Fan Shen looked up at him and smiled gently. “I’ll always sleep with you from now on, okay?”

His son, who’d refused to sleep with him from the age of seven onwards, was finally willing to be close to his dad again?

Xiao He was over the moon!

But he soon sighed and said, “I was joking, how could we still sleep together? You’re almost at the age to find a wife!”

If it were before and Xiao He said something like this, Fan Shen’s mood would usually fall. But today, he just smiled slightly and didn’t say much.

And for the whole day, Xiao He noticed that there was something different about Fan Shen.

Before, Fan Shen would often take care of him as well. He was more attentive than him, more considerate than him, and he handled everything more thoughtfully than him.

Xiao He had long since gotten used to it, but today, he felt that something wasn’t quite right.

If he had to say what it was, it would probably be Fan Shen’s attitude.

He was too considerate and too meticulous, to the point that many times, Xiao He had...the misconception that the man before his eyes was Ayr.

He would never have done that before. He could tell Ayr and Fan Shen apart clearly.

One was the man he loved, and the other was the child he’d raised.

No matter how similar they were, he couldn’t possibly get it wrong.

But today, he fell into a daze many times.

When night was about to fall at last, he felt a little nervous.

He didn’t really dare to sleep with Fan Shen anymore.

Xiao He wasted time in his room, and Fan Shen, who had gone out in the afternoon, still hadn’t come back.

Seeing that the sky was growing dark, Xiao He felt a little worried. He was just about to call Fan Shen when the door opened.

The slender boy stood beside the door, looking at him.

Xiao He felt startled all of a sudden. He keenly sensed that something wasn’t quite right.

Fan Shen walked in. His steps were steady, and his expression was the same as usual. Only his tightly clenched fists gave away his mood.

“We don’t have any blood relation, right?”

When he heard these words, Xiao He’s face paled, and he couldn’t make a sound.

He knew…how did he know, he…

Fan Shen closed in on him, step by step, until he forced Xiao He up against the wall. He leaned over and said in a low voice so gentle it was unimaginable, “You’re not my father, right?”

Xiao He’s mind was completely blank. He instinctively felt that he should explain himself a bit, but he was inexplicably afraid, afraid of the current Fan Shen.

“I’m really happy.” Fan Shen stared at him, his azure eyes reflecting him completely. “I’m really happy that you’re not my father.”

His words were low and rough, completely relaxed, but when he heard them, Xiao He felt a chill in his heart.

It turned out...that he had never wanted him to be his father?

He had painstakingly brought him up, but it turned out that in Fan Shen’s heart, he actually…

This heart-chilling thought hadn’t finished flashing through his mind when Xiao He’s eyes suddenly widened.

Fan Shen held the back of Xiao He's neck with one hand, lowered his head slightly, and kissed him hard.
